Membership

The UCLF Constitution 2016 states that Membership of UCLF is open to individuals and organizations who subscribe to the Statement of Faith and the Constitution”.

The UCLF Constitution also provides for consolidated membership register which can be reviewed online

DECLAIMER; whereas we are a Christian based professional association, our responsibility for the  professional  misconduct of our members is limited”.

 

We are a professional membership organization with four categories for membership; Students, Lawyers, Institutional and Associate members.

(a) Law Student membership (covers Christian Law Students at Higher institutions of learning. Membership fee is 25,000/= or $ 7 and annual subscription fee is 25,000/= or $ 7 )

Benefits

  • Internships, Clerkships, and Volunteer opportunities both at the secretariat and connection to member lawyers
  • Resource center membership. The resource Center has a spacious work area, more than 3500 law books including a complete set of East African law reports, All England Law Reports and a complete set of the Laws of Uganda and subsidiary legislation. The library further has a partial set of Kampala law report, legal text books by both local and International authors. Resource center members can access the electronic library in case not in position to visit the secretariat.
  • Mentorship opportunities. We reach out to law student and connect them with lawyers through live mentorship programme. This programme address the personal needs and growth of law students professional wise and spiritual wise
  • Fellowship is the core of UCLF. Through the students forums such as fellowship meetings, dinners, retreats and symposiums, UCLF has an opportunity to envision and disciple a whole generation of lawyers.
  • Capacity building and great networking opportunitieswith members of the legal profession, students from different law schools, within and outside Uganda through dinners, workshops, regional and international conferences.

(b) Lawyer's Membership (Covers qualified Christian lawyers. Membership fee is 100,000/= or $ 29 and annual subscription is 100,000/= or $ 29, Life members pay 1,000,000/= or 286$ as a one-off and don’t pay annual subscription)

  • UCLF enriches members’ careers and networks through participation in the members’ select committees; opportunities for research, scholarships, leadership, authorship, speaking engagements, advocacy and public service initiatives.
  • Resource center membership. The resource Centre has a spacious work area, more than 3500 law books including a complete set of East African law reports, All England Law Reports and a complete set of the Laws of Uganda and subsidiary legislation. The library further has a partial set of Kampala law report, legal text books by both local and International authors. Resource center members can access the electronic library in case not in position to visit the secretariat.
  • UCLF provides a Christian professional family space, recommendations and referrals to desired forums.
  • Fellowship and capacity building. Through the lawyers’ forums such as fellowship meetings, workshops, conferences, workshops, dinners, and retreats, UCLF has an opportunity to envision, disciple and build the lawyers’ capacity.
  • Probono and volunteer opportunities such as handling court cases, law Students mentorship and participating in legal education community/church/police/prison trainings.

(c) Institutional Membership ( covers institutions with similar objectives and subscribe to the UCLF Constitution. Membership fee is 250,000/= or $ 71).

  • Capacity building and great networking opportunities.
  • Attendance and voting rights at the Annual General meeting.
  • Ministry and voluntary opportunities to UCLF and its constituency.
  • Resource center membership. The resource Centre has a spacious work area, more than 3500 law books including a complete set of East African law reports, All England Law Reports and a complete set of the Laws of Uganda and subsidiary legislation. The library further has a partial set of Kampala law report, legal text books by both local and International authors. Resource center members can access the electronic library in case not in position to visit the secretariat.

(d) Associate members. (Covers individuals or organizations that may be invited by UCLF to be an associate member as may be determined by the Board from time to time. Membership fee is fee is 100,000/= or $ 29 ).
