Isaiah 61:1 (GNB) ‘The Sovereign LORD has filled me with his Spirit. He has chosen me and sent me To bring good news to the poor, To heal the broken-hearted, To announce release to captives And freedom to those in prison.’
You became a born again, because you were born of the Spirit of God, for we came from the Spirit and not the flesh (John 3: 3-7). Apart from that, our Spirit man also became the indwelling place of the Holy Ghost. We have the Spirit of God living and working in us now as Christians. The Spirit of God who dwells in and upon us is the source of the anointing.
The Spirit of God is upon us for a reason and those reasons are exhausted in Isaiah 61.
We are anointed to preach the good news to the poor, heal the broken hearted, announce the release of the captives and minister freedom to those in prison. Can you imagine through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we have all been made ministries? And ministers of the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3: 6).
Jesus knew that he had the Spirit upon him and this is why he revolutionised the world with his Gospel. He knew the Spirit of God was upon him. This was evidenced when he got the scroll and read from Isaiah 61 as quoted in Luke 4: 17-19, this should be our mentality. Let us be conscious of the presence of the Spirit of God in us and around us.
We are so loaded with the anointing because we have received the full measure of the Spirit (John 3: 34).
With this anointing upon us and in us, we can go about doing good, healing the sick and setting the captives free in the name of Jesus our Lord.
