‘Genesis 1:28’ And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.’
When God created human beings, he had a purpose in mind of what man would be and what humans would do.
This purpose is summarized in Genesis 1: 28. What comes out clearly is that, man was created to dominate, replenish, subdue, multiply and be fruitful.
Let us consider subduing, this means to conquer and bring intelligible things unto subjection to us. It means getting other things or people think like us. This is why we preach the gospel and as we preach minds are changed to think like our recreated mind, to think like Christ. We can influence and change minds.
About the authority of man or human beings, the Pslamist revealed this ‘Psalms 8:6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet.’ God has given us dominion over other creatures and he has put all things under our feet.
When Adam fell this authority was taken away from him. However, when Christ came and paid for our sins, he as well restored the believing man to his former position of authority. Jesus said Mathew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Therefore, through Christ Jesus continue dominating for the Kingdom of God. As Africans God has created us to dominate. Let’s think of dominating in science, technology, business, law and in every area of professional life.
